To start this off, I would like to acknowledge everyone upset that Janoris Jenkings was not on the ballot last friday. I made the executive decision that if they were kicked from or transfered out of the school and finished their college career somewhere else, i did not include them.
Today, we are starting off the offensive line with the center position. Now, contrary to what i have been previously doing, awards and honors will be weighted heavier for the O Line. This is because they did not begin tracking OLine stats until the 90s, and it wasn't until much more recently that we developed next gen stats that really showcase lineman. So for the Oline, all-american, all-sec, and any other awards were considered. Additionally, I took into account draft position if it was close
As these polls go on, I recognize that some players will be left out. That is going to be apparent with some positions like middle linebacker, wide reciever, and corner back. With a history of great players in these positions, statistics can only bring us so far. There is the subjectiveness of awards they receive and of nominations for awards. Because of this, awards are the last thing considered when ranking the top 6 statistical players of all time at any given position.
Additionally, we must all acknowledge that the game has changed and the responsibilities of positions have changed with it. I tried to include that into my analysis.
Furthermore, some of you asked about coaches and schemes. The coaches will be the last thing we vote on. I understand that some people might take issue with that, but hear me out. We aren't picking a team that is going to play a game. We are picking a team to represent the best individual players. The same goes for the coaches. Carlos Alveraze may have never been recruited by Urban Meyer. That sort of subjectivity is a discussion all its own.
Friday's winner was Joe Haden. Your CB group is Joe Haden (253 votes), Lito Sheppard (60 votes), and Vernon Hargreaves III (55 votes)
I enjoyed the discussion going on in the comments. There has been virtually no toxicity, and everyone appears to be having a good time
Now, without further delay, here are the six statistically best centers to play at the University of Florida:
