Wer'e cultivating a new-ish 9a backyard garden and hoping for ideas to efficiently protect it from a freeze this winter without wrapping literally everything in blankets.

I have a few dining flys left over from my scouting days. Wondering if I simply covered the plants by pitching the tarps over them if it would sufficiently protect them. That would be far easier than wrapping each plant individually. I noticed during last winter's polar vortex freeze everything under the pool screen survived fine whereas everything uncovered out in the yard required protection.
