Need help finding flooring…
Post Body

Just moved into a new home and am looking to replace the floors throughout the entire home.

My dream floor would be a 3.5” rift-only white oak; nice straight, consistent grain, no knots, very little color variation, etc., but unfortunately due to the small menagerie of pets we own (2 dogs; a 60lb and a 20lb, along with 5 cats) I have concerns about the durability of a real hardwood floor holding up over time.

I have “accepted” the fact that we will most likely need to go with a vinyl of some kind the saddest sigh, but am having trouble finding anything that has the look, or even a similar look, to what I want.

I’d like something very clean and somewhat modern looking. Something without a lot of variation in color and grain pattern, and something with as few knots as possible.

I also HATE the look of wide planks. Would prefer to stay in the 3”-4” range, but would be willing to go up to maybe 5” if I found something that checked the rest of the boxes.

Color is also of concern, as I am looking for something in a natural looking medium tone (I’d literally compare the color I’m looking for to that of cardboard… something in the way of a neutral/natural medium beige-brown with just the slightest hint of grey undertone)

Lastly: square edge is preferable. Would consider a micro-bevel, if we needed to. Definitely no pillow edges (yuck!).

As you can probably imagine, we are having a VERY difficult time finding a vinyl floor from a reputable manufacturer that we like.

Are we correct in assuming that we should go vinyl instead of real wood given the number of pets we have? If so, are there any recommendations anyone may have for a vinyl flooring that would suit our tastes. If anyone has any suggestions we are all ears!
