Polished concrete--musty smell
Post Body

We have a Texas home built on a concrete slab that had carpet and vinyl flooring on the concrete when we bought it. We had the slab polished, and love the results. But... from the time the contractor polished the slab till now (3 years later) there is a musty smell in our house, like a wet basement.

The smell is worse during the wet and humid times of the year, but noticeable even in the heat of summer where there hasn't been rain for months. The home is on a raised slab, well drained site, there is never standing water around the house.

The floor doesn't have an epoxy coating finish, but it was burnished with a matte water/stain resistant finish (but it is absolutely not moisture proof)

QUESTION is... has anyone else encountered this.... and is there a fix for this?
