LVP shower wall tiling?

So my MIL is getting her bathroom redone and it looks like the shower surround is some sort of click lock tile LVP thing. You can tell by the joints and just by feeling it. Is this normal/up to code. Doesn’t seem like it would be waterproof right? The contractor isn’t done that’s why there are some gaps in the tile but I’m more concerned about the tile in the shower
