My coworker and I have been talking a lot over the last few months, but sometimes I feel like I really flop. Yesterday we talked for an hour as our schedules were both clear, then after she came to my office for some verification which could have honestly been an email.

Anyways, I learn that she may be leaving the workplace to go back to school next year, and as she’s leaving I say “You know if you do leave, we’re going to have to find some time to hangout.”

She laughs and say, “mmm sorry no I’m going to be soooo busy with grad school, but yeah for sure- but I did have a friend who just stopped talking to me when she went to grad school it was weird”

Then I said the worst line ever in a panic “well I definitely rather talk to you than not talk to you”

She laughed as she headed out but how bad my line was still haunts me.
