I received a handwritten thank you note from a buyer. Positive feedback through the eBay system is great ... don't get me wrong. But to come home to find a thank-you note in the mail made my day.
To make a long story short, the buyer accidentally threw out a tiny piece of the item when he unwrapped it. He contacted me and asked if I'd included it, and I assured him I did and told him exactly how I'd wrapped it and taped it. He admitted he'd probably tossed it out by accident. I was able to find (buy) a replacement and sent it to him at no cost. I figured it was a kind gesture that was easy enough for me to do, and is the type of customer service I am proud to offer.
But, wow. I sure didn't expect to get a note in the mail!
Edit: ......aaaaannnnnnnddd I tempted fate. In the past 24 hours, I've had a buyer request a refund for the reason "changed my mind" and another buyer open a PP chargeback on two purchases, claiming that she did not authorize them.
