Do I need to purchase a youth card in order to fly on AirFrance?

Hello good evening,

I am a tourist from the United States who will be traveling from Paris CDG to Nice on Wednesday and then from Nice to Amsterdam the following day, both flying with Air France. I selected a youth ticket because I am only 21 and purchased via a 3rd party vendor, studentuniverse. I got an email a couple of days ago from Air France saying I need to purchase a youth pass which is about 49€ in order to board my flight— my question is do I really need to purchase one if my passport obviously states that I am 21 lol. Thank you!
