I've got a specific week next year when I may fly somewhere exotic, but it depends on coordinating schedules among several people, one of whom isn't good at planning ahead.
Can I buy a refundable ticket now to hold a spot, buy a nonrefundable (presumably cheaper) ticket later for the same flight, and cancel the refundable ticket, pocketing any difference between the two fares? Does it matter if, e.g., I buy nonrefundable and then cancel refundable, or cancel refundable first and then buy nonrefundable?
Thanks in advance for your help. Happy Thanksgiving!
