How Fast Should I Be Progressing?
Post Body

So I am just curious if I should raise my expectations or if they're fine.

I've been working on pullups. In one session I do 5kg weighted pullups, 3 reps for 3 sets minimum, at the end of a bouldering session. A few days later I do regular pullups (no added weight) at a higher volume, atm I'm hitting 6-7 reps 3 sets...

Which is really cool because when I was plateauing a month or so ago I could barely squeak out 2 reps at 5kg or 4 reps unweighted, and the other day I spontaneously pulled out 7 unweighted reps! And it's really helping with my grip in climbing, I can even hang one-handed by my weakest arm now!

So... I feel like I'm making progress?

But I'm wondering if I'm going too slow? Like, it seems like other folks are further along faster? Like, I am thinking I don't want to increase the weight until I can hit maybe 6 reps in my set.

I'm hesitant to do lots more volume per set because I want to go for strength more than bulk (I love having a sleeper build, e.g. this cutesy femme gal that can whip out muscle-mommy stuff >:) ), but I wanted to ground my expectations a bit to see if I should be doing better than I am and I'm just being a derp or something haha.

FTR I'm trans mtf, but I've been postop many years now so my hormones shouldn't come in as a factor.
