I think(know) it's bc I was able to binge it. I have come to realize that with a lot of shows with breaks, things play better when I can just watch and go. This season of Flash is no different. We all know the 3rd season was....mediocre. Took too long to reveal who Savitar was even though everybody and their mama could guess.
This season faced a similar problem with Devoe. Except he was just an interesting villain to look at along with Marlize. The order of the episodes kind of played into the strangeness of the season, the trial was not great, but as a whole...it was decent.
Having Metas of the week with an overarching villain worked out pretty well. Letting Iris be useful(thank god) worked a lot. You had arguably the best episode with Enter Flashtime, Amunet was good even with Sackhoff's over the top accent. Just an enjoyable season that set up a lot for season 5, similar to Arrow.
Both shows used their seasons to develop the main character and build up for their next season. Arrow with Oliver becoming a better Oliver and developing Diaz, Flash with Barry finally likely becoming a Barry Allen who is his own mentor and doesn't need those top tier black fatherhood moments with Joe any longer.
I'm excited to see where this goes, sad Keiynan Lonsdale is leaving, but it's to be expected. I expect there to be a jump to quality much like Arrow did with S5 and most of S6 when the show is back in the fall. Hopefully they can do a Rouges season eventually, with Amunet leading them instead of Cold since that's not gonna happen anytime soon.
