I've gained a lot of weight over the last few years due to structural problems with my feet which have caused plantars fasciitis and patella femoral pain. I'd lost a lot of weight 5 years ago after my first daughter was born (I gained a LOT of sympathy weight) and went from 260-210. I am now back up to 240ish. I am 6' tall and have a good sized frame (47 inch chest). I am 38 so losing weightisn't as easy as it used to be.
I was primed to lose even more weight but then the knee pain kicked in and I backslid. I worked through it after awhile and then the foot pain kicked in worse than ever (yoga helped me get past it while losing the weight). So now, I am having both at the same time and am working on doing the exercises to relieve the pain and I got orthotics.
Here I am, I going to start doing the couch to 5k program to get my cardio back in gear and biking as well. I plan on getting back in to my lapsed weight lifting routine (been off for about 10 months). If anyone here has been through similar tribulations and can give any advice on how to proceed or more importantly avoid further injury. I've got a lot to relearn and even more to learn.
My over plan will involve the following: -the aforementioned couch to 5k
-Bike riding (and getting my bike fitted to avoid injury)
-Yoga
-Compound lift, full-body 45 minute work outs 3 times a week until I get to a point for isolation lifts make sense
-A paleo-ish diet
-Supplement regimen of fish oil, vitamins C, D, and E and herbal anti-inflammation supplement (I can't take NSAIDs due to stomach issues) and digestive enzymes.
-Considering foam-rolling for knee and feet issues
Thanks for being here Fittit!
