Body weight to lift ratio.
Post Body

I often see statements that refer to how much you can lift compared to your body weight. Even some strength standard websites gives you a percentage of your body weight that you can lift. How does body weight actually relate to your lifting weight? I'm assuming a 225lb man is going to be able to bench press more than a 160lb man unless he trains specifically for strength.

This leads me onto another query. I have just lost 30lb in weight and although my bench press has dropped a little I can now rep my body weight where as then I was heavier I could only manage a rep at my body weight. That would indicate I've got stronger if you base it on body weight to lift ration but I haven't I've lost strength.
