So I decided I'm tired of being "that skinny dude" and a few days ago started looking into strength training. Ended up going with Stronglifts 5x5, and had my first workout with it this morning. I went to the store today and bought a crap ton of chicken, eggs, rice, oats, peanut butter, bananas, and veggies. Also bought some whey powder to help me out.
So I cooked about 5 cups of rice (5 cups precooked, at least), about 4lb of chicken breast, and steamed a ton of broccoli. I'm, uh, not really sure how I should portion this out, though. All the rice and chicken is just sitting in two huge bowls right now, and I just don't know what a good starting point is on how much of it to eat a day. I figure in the morning I'll be cooking eggs and oats (also possibly bacon?), and before going to sleep tonight I'm going to get a protein shake ready for tomorrow. I can make peanut butter sandwiches for some easy calories, too. I work a normal 9-5 office job, so I'm just trying to figure out how much I should be taking with me. I have a way to weigh the food, so I can portion that way, as well. And advice here? I've eaten like crap and never cared my entire life, so I'm trying to adjust. I'm shooting for around 3000-3100 calories, to start with. Once I get into a routine with all of this, I'll be set. It's just the "getting started" part that's throwing me off right now.
Also, are there any good sites out there to track lifting routines and the food you're eating? I'm coming from a running background, which I used RunKeeper for. Obviously that does me no good right now.
