Having an incredibly hard time choosing between strength training and running. Any advice?
Post Body

So I've been trying to make a decision over the last few days on whether I want to focus on building muscle, or if I want to continue training for a marathon.

I've been a runner for years now, and don't get me wrong, I definitely enjoy it. I feel like I've been getting burnt out on it recently, though. I started training for a marathon, so it's been six days a week of running, with a few hours of running on Saturday, alone. I've been noticing some knee pain creeping in the last week or so, as well. I've been taking some time off to prevent injury from hitting, and the more I think about running, the more I'm starting to think maybe I don't enjoy it as much as I used to.

I've been thinking about getting into strength training for a while now. I think I'd really enjoy it, but I also know that obviously I won't be running like I have been. I've always been that small, skinny guy (6'0" and 170lb or so right now), and I figure maybe now would be a good time to change things.

I did recently have my wife leave me a few months ago (can check my post history if you want the backstory), so I'm single again for the first time in six years. So that could partially be why I want to focus on looking better, as well.

Anyone here who made the change from being huge into running over to weight lifting? Just unsure on what to do right now.
