Full body 3X week routines

Hey yall,
So I am currently intending to head into so PT work and I am working with someone who has a hectic schedule (medical school). Anyway, I was going to switch him over to a full body 3 x a week routine and I wanted to know how you guys have found this compared to a split routine? How were your gains and what type of routine do you working professionals prefer? thanks
