Buying my first actually "good" fishing gear

Post Body

I've been fishing on and off for the last 2 summers, but only really used my cheapo spinning rod and reel combos that I got from dick's last year (the Abu Garcia Black Max and the Daiwa Samurai X), I've only really fished with live worms with some high school friends and so far I've had a good time.

I saw that St. Croix is doing a sale on their combos, and I had just picked up some stuff to do finesse fishing (senkos, ned rig jigs, zman trd worms, braid & fluro) and was looking at this specific combo.

All my stuff works fine, even after a bit of abuse; do I bite the bullet and get something that's most-definitely nicer, or just wait until my current rods give out? I'm in IL so there's a 2 rod limit in the water, so I don't really see myself ever needing more than 2 or 3 rods.
