Never fished, looking for gear advice

I have never gone fishing but I want to pick it up as a hobby.
I plan on catching and releasing. I am looking for advice/gear.
I was thinking of a retractable rod but not sure what I should get and accessories.
Also if anyone has a good YouTube channel to learn how to fish aka casting (that looks hard) feel free to DM me.
