It's late to start on Salmon, but I intend to get some time in this season trying to fish for Steelhead in Washington state rivers. Possibly in Oregon, as well. Columbia river tributaries mostly.
I know that towards the end of winter steelhead, there is some overlap with the spring salmon runs, so before that time comes, I want to get more familiar with discerning between species.
I've seen guides for IDing salmon and steelhead, but most of them seem to be illustrated, or the photos don't really feel like they're really in the field, so to speak, and don't so a very good job of identifying the individual characteristics used to determine species.
With nobody really to mentor me (I'm basically a solo and self fisherman when it comes to large species), I'm looking for some good guides to help me prepare for my upcoming fishing adventures!
