Lake fishing from shore with no boat, is it viable?
Post Body

So where I live I am fortunate enough to be in an spot where within an hour drive there are dozens and dozens of lakes with species such as pike, perch, walleye, burbot, and various trout species. However, I do not own a boat and probably won’t own one for awhile, I had an inflatable kayak but did not enjoy the experience at all. So with that said I’m limited to the shore. The other issue is that 95% of these lakes shore lines are private property, with lake side cabins running all along the shore with many private docks, this means with a lot of these lakes the only decent shore spot is the community use boat launch, which is usually a very busy spot with other fishers and boats coming and going. The parts of the shores that don’t have cabins are very thick bushes with no road access nearby and there is crime issues in the area so parking the car on the side of a road and hiking is a good way to come back to a ransacked or stolen vehicle.

So I guess can I try for some decent lake fishing or am I kinda screwed? There is a massive river nearby I fish lots but if you want pike or perch then you’ll want to skip the river and go the lakes, the river is great for walleye and other various species. Thanks for any tips!
