Electrical tape backing on a spinning reel?

I seen a forum post about mono backing on reels to get more line on when a user commented saying he uses electrical tape by wrapping a few wraps on the reel before tying on his braid and spooling it. Has anyone else tried this and would it work decent. I don’t have any mono at the house but have 3 rolls of electrical tape so though I’d ask as I’m gonna be spooling my rod later today with some braid. Thanks!
