I’m trying to get back into fishing after several years, and I have a question about line.
Post Body

I know I can’t run straight braid in most setups. And I can’t tie leader knots to braid due to a hand tremor. So I tried fluorocarbon on a M 7’1” spinning reel and 7’ MH bait caster. Long story short, I managed to fuck up both reels badly within minutes. I picked the bird’s nest out of the casting reel, but the spinning one is beyond fucked. It’s like the fluorocarbon was too “bouncy”? I know I sound dumb.

Anyway, my question is, should I just try straight mono? That’s how I started ~7 years ago on a spinning rod and don’t recall having these issues. I’m thinking I should just go back to mono on a spinning setup until I’m feeling more confident. For context, I have two size 2500 spinning reels and two medium rods. If mono is the right choice, what lb. test for these setups? I know this is a dumb question, but I guess that’s what this sub is for.

EDIT: Should have mentioned that this will be for inshore species and bass in pretty stained south Louisiana water. Mostly bass though.
