Hey all. So about 6 months ago I started fishing and to put it bluntly I am obsessed with it. There is one problem though and that’s that I’m not very good at it. I’ve tried different rig setups, locations, times, tides etc. and in five months I have caught a grand total of 1 edible fish. Now, I know that it’s called fishing and not catching and honestly just being out on the water has been fun enough for me, but I wanted to come to this subreddit to see if anyone has any advice for a new guy like me so that I can increase my catch total. I don’t have any friends who fish so everything I’ve learned has been through online searches or just figuring it out when I’m out there. For some context: I live in south Florida and have only been fishing intercoastal waterways. All advice would be appreciated including if anyone knows of any good instructional YouTube videos, when I should be going, and/or when to use what bait. Currently, I have a Penn Spinfisher Vi 6500 with 60 pound braid on a spinfisher rod. Ik it’s overkill but it looked cool. Thanks in advance!
