Artificial River Habitat
Post Body

I recently purchased a riverfront home in the Midwest. My river is apparently good for smallmouth, walleye and channel catfish. My particular area is flat, sandy, algae-bottom along an open stretch of the river, around 6ft at deepest point, and I haven’t had much luck so far. Sat out for a few hours with stink bait last night hoping for cats but got skunk.

I haven’t done much river fishing, but I’ve gathered that fish prefer slow-moving areas such as near dams. Is there something I can build to create a slow moving area in front of my house to attract the fish? Any other ideas to improve luck from my spot?
