Hi folks! So yesterday I had a question about lifetime fishing licenses and annual renewals based on some contradictory information online. I just wanted to update all of you, I called the Illinois DNR office in Springfield just a few minutes ago. The very nice lady who answered the phone clarified that the lifetime license is indeed for life, you do not need to re-register or renew via payments, and she has no idea why that idea was floating around the internet. I told her which website (Illinois general assembly) listed the bill and its wording which seemed to confirm the odd idea they'd need renewal, and included the section. She asked for that extra information herself, clarified it was wrong and that they were going to try to find a way to fix it or at least put a notice out there that it's wrong. I was very glad to share this with all of you not just because common sense prevailed, but also because it's nice to see the rare government employees that are both kind and competent in action.
Tl;dr lifetime fishing license does indeed count for life, as it should
