My partner and I are first time homebuyers. We put an offer in on a house a week ago and they sent a counter offer today, we’re planning to accept, our realtor is just asking for some wording to be changed in the purchase agreement about a garage repair that the sellers offered to have done before closing in exchange for a higher purchase price.
This house had been all we could think about all week. Its perfect for us and we have been dreading the possibility that the buyers would get another offer and we would lose out. We have our offer contingent on an inspection, which we don’t expect to be a deal breaker because the house is in great condition and the city inspector had already been out twice and we’ve seen their reports. We got pre-approved a few weeks ago for more than what we are offering on this house and the lender said we can lock in a rate as soon as we have a signed purchase agreement. Assuming we sign a purchase agreement today, can we stop stressing so much? If closing takes an average of 4 weeks then are we stuck holding our breath until we actually have keys in hand?
