I’ve been looking to buy a house for years now and have not been able to get one that I liked. I finally pulled the trigger on a new construction home, I didn’t spec any of it and the seller gave me 4.99% interest with 10% down.
The cost of the home was 650k My gross pay is 14,600 per month. Take home is 4300
My main criteria was for there to be a/c, a garage, and no electrical and roof upgrades needed. Those costs are insane where I live and I’d instantly be 50k in the hole.
I’m worried I made a mistake in buying a house too big for myself. It’s new so I thought perhaps this wouldn’t be a problem and I could save up for repairs down the road. It is an hour away from work which sucks but everything close to my job was about the same price for half the space, 60 years old, no garage, no a/c, and typically leaking roofs. And houses in between where I’m at and near my job are over 800k-1 million. Did I over buy?
