How do I shop for mortgage rates? Do I need to submit an application and get hard pulled everytime I want to check the Loan rates?

So I’m thinking about buying a house, and I want to submit a pre approval application, but once I get my pre approval for a mortgage loan, I don’t know if I send that. pre-approval to other lenders so that they can give me a loan rate, or if I would need to apply again and have my credit drop every time I want to check interest rates with a lender. How do I shop for mortgage loan interest rates and what would I need to receive other lenders rate offers? Does my credit drop everytime I check loan rates for me with a lender?
