Now that I have a good supply of seasoned wood and a good axe, I'm starting to use my insert more regularly. Just from the blower in the unit, it will heat my home for hours as long as I feed it once or twice an hour after it gets going. I've been wondering whether, once it's super hot, if it'd be more efficient to put a slower burning unsplit log in (use less wood per hour) or if the inefficiency of the log burning vs. a split log cancel that out.
Any tips on vent position (wide open means hotter but burns quicker. Half way is less hot but burns more slowly) are also welcome as well.
Thanks!
