Hey friends.
This is my first home with a wood burning fireplace. I love it to death, but I'm worried there might be a problem. With a moderate fire I get some pretty noticeable haze and curls of smoke along my ceiling. Is this normal?
The first chimney sweep I hired said my fireplace needed reparged. However he also said I needed my entire fire box rebuilt and tried to show me "cracks" that were just the seams in the masonry. I didn't really belive much of what he said. Next tech didn't say anything about reporting, just wanted to sweep it.
What do you think? Is this a normal amount of smoke? My whole downstairs permanently smells like a fireplace these days.
I know its too much the second my wife starts complaining about it!
