So today, I took the practice physical ability test for the fire academy. I did fine on the first three segments (running up and down the stairs with the weighted vest and weighted hose on shoulders, hitting the bar 10 feet, pulling the hose up a four story building), but I struggled on the last two parts: dragging the hose across the pavement and dragging the dummy across the pavement. I struggled to have good grip with the floor during the hose drag, and I struggled to drag the 150 pound dummy across the pavement. At one point I lost my grip and fell during the dummy drag. I ended up sick and vomited after the practice. What can I do to improve myself? I eat healthy and do pushups/pullups/situps at home and have been for some time now.
Update: After listening to the advice of redditors on this post, I am happy to say I passed the PAT and was chosen for the academy. Thank you to everybody who gave me solid, sound advice.
