New state / new department- I have noticed that it is common practice for personnel to mask up in the apparatus on the way to the fire around here.
This is new to me and different from the training that I have been through, part of the training I went through we consistently did the 15 second drill to ensure that we could be masked up and on air in 15 seconds.
I tried masking up in the apparatus like everyone else and found that I couldn’t see anything when we arrived on scene, I was fumbling to get tools and tripping over stuff.
Would like to hear feedback on this approach, pros/cons and opinions from other firefighters.
Thank you.
