Do you/would you walk around with the hammer cocked back on your side arm āā¦because itās loaded!ā?
Went to a shop yesterday, the kind with a buzzer and e-lock on the door, and the two gentlemen had open carry side arms. Fine with me. They both looked liked they were double action.
So I asked one of the guys, why do you keep the hammer cocked back?
Iām thinking he could bump it, bang it, bust the clip/spring holding the hammer, and shoot him self in the leg.
His response, cheerfully, āBecause itās loaded!ā
A cheeky response that gun nuts should love, thieves should fear, and regular patrons will nearly vomit on the glass case out of fear.
Iām certain that itās a BAD idea to go anywhere with the hammer cocked back unless itās into osamaās bedroom (rip) and the clerk was just shimmying and shaking his booty all around his big desk gathering scales, calculators, paper receipts and pens. His fat ass nearly bumped that gun around each corner of the desk.
Do you keep the hammer back ābecause itās loaded?ā
Edit
Some of you provided relevant info, and thank you for that. I was taught about 1911 safety mechanisms and safeties that block striker plates. I have no reason to believe this guy was carrying a 1911. Many of you jumped on that conclusion. Itās logical, but his didnāt look like the 1911 in the case right next to us.
All of you nut jobs who are āpreparedā for the feds to take your guns are wasting your time. If you walk around open carry cocked and locked in a safe city, youāre menacing. And you can fuck right off.
Just two people expressing two different rights.
