Contrary to what I’ve seen, Azure Gleam seems like the least controversial route to me. The only thing I can see people (mostly Edelgard fans/simps) having a problem with is the whole part about Edelgard getting brainwashed and used like a puppet (like she wasn’t in the original, just without being Brainwashed). I personally don’t have a problem with it because, honestly, that’s how I saw Edelgard in the original anyway, which just makes me feel sad for her ( But thank God we aren’t working with TWSITD in three hopes) The one problem/nitpick I do have, (one that’s been brought up before) is if TWSITD could do that the whole time, why didn’t they do it in three houses? Then there’s Claude, and… I’m not gonna talk about that.
With Dimitri on the other hand, that ending was way more satisfying in my opinion. Not only because you defeat the true enemy, but the ending itself just makes me feel happy. The Kingdom, Alliance, and Church win, Together! And the war doesn’t look like it’ll go on forever in that ending. The reason I think that is because of Edelgards condition in the end, and with anyone that could be in charge of the empire gone, the war could end quickly because of the lack of authority in the Empire, thus making it collapse. And on top of that, since the endings are more up to interpretation, I head canon that even Edelgard canon be happy in that ending, because I think Dimitri would take her in. Yeah, she’s has the brain of 12 year old (or younger, I don’t know) child, which sucks for her, but at least she has her memories of Dimitri again. The fact that Edelgard was spared is what made me come up with the Head canon, basically a better Azure Moon ending with Edelgard still being Alive. And that’s why AG has the best ending in my book (even better then Claude’s route in 3 houses in some cases) and why it’s the ending that I’ll recruit Byleth in first.
That’s all. If there’s anything that I missed/could’ve added, let me know.
