Another way to approach the old adage of 30 x annual expenses for FIRE.
Most people in the rat race have a rough idea of what their monthly budget is, what their monthly take-home pay is, and a good gut feeling of what's left (or not left) at the end of the month.
Breaking it down into monthly units is a great way to reflect on the true value of things versus what they cost; the latest iPhone, a newer SUV with better infotainment, subscription services.
It's also a great way to get people on board with retirement savings… their jaws drop when they hear that number and ask for an elaboration.
