What is the "right" amount for FIRE?
Post Body

What #s did everyone start with when contemplating FIRE?

Asking, because we look decent in the here & now on paper, with the exception for projected social security income or retirement plans. Mainly self-funded with private assets. (Self employed).

Emotionally, feel I can never retire: 2 sets of elderly dependents, 8 years ahead of kids college payments, assets tied up in small biz and non-opportunistic real estate (not optimized for rental income).

Wish to transition from brick and mortar biz to something else.

What do small biz owner do in this space?
