How much do you know about GNU/Linux? A lot, though I'm looking for something I don't have to fuss with; I don't mind if a distro requires some knowledge, but I'd prefer to avoid distros that require leaning heavily on that experience (e.g. Arch).
Do you prefer the Windows or MacOS design? (Or if you know what a Desktop Environment is, list your favourite) I've been using GNOME Shell for three main reasons: I love its on-the-fly addition/removal of extra workspaces, it looks clean and modern, and it's simple and doesn't get in the way. I haven't tried other DEs in a while though, so I wouldn't at all be shocked if there's better.
Is your hardware fairly old or obscure, or is it modern / common? Definitely modern. Ryzen 7 2700X and GTX 980 Ti, and I'm still looking to make some upgrades. It's a gaming PC, though I don't plan on doing much/any gaming on Linux.
What will it be used for? Daily use, some JavaScript programming. Massive gaming support isn't critical, but being able to at least run games is important, as I often test things in Linux.
Do you have any special requirements? I'm tired of fighting with a distro every time something goes wrong. I loved Arch's large selection of software in the AUR, as well as how it was almost always up to date, but at this point I'd rather have something that's very "set it and forget it".
Distro Chooser Results: https://distrochooser.de/en/185100
I'm looking into Solus OS at the moment based on Distro Chooser, but given how long it's been since I've researched distros, I'd be happy to hear any suggestions--even if said suggestion is that Solus OS is spot on what I'm after.
Thank you for your time.
