I did really well at a firm that sold whole life and term, plus class A mutual funds. Brought over 2.5M and sold a ton of insurance in my first 9 mo, which was good enough to get food on the table. I resigned, wanted to work with people my own age (late 20s early 30s) and have friends at work, the environment was 60 yo advisors using me for prospecting my natural market. I’m at a large insurance firm with an Advisory staff now and don’t have an office, call leads all day, and don’t really get any training.
I think I hate being an advisor and I’m throwing my life away. I’m not really making much money, I can’t get traction with tabletop referrals because people are only meeting me on Zoom. I don’t know how to escape, or where else I can work!
I don’t make a salary, it’s all commission and I don’t get much training or guidance. Also, I have to pay back my hiring bonus if I leave. Is this normal? Seems like everyone here is working PE from a top ten school and makes 120 starting... I would love any advice to enjoy work, build success, or gtfo :)
