Why is Squall the only character with GFs? *Follow up if each GF had to belong to only one character, to whom? And how to reflect this in game mechanically?

The tutorial quest(s) tell us that All Seeds must acquire a low level GF as part of the Judgment portion of their exam, and per the story this is Required to go on the mission to Dollet. Although Squall starts off with 2 in the system at his desk, (Quezacotl and Shiva). Meaning he should not have to go into the Fire Cavern at all unless……

Let’s assume Squall has 0 GFs initially and those 2 belong to either: A Seifer and Zell (mechanically pretend to not have them until you gain the characters) Or B They both belong to Quistis and as as a teacher, one can be used as a training aid given to students temporarily.

If the initial 2 GFs do not belong to Seifer Zell, then they should each have one of their own as even though they are not Seeds, they are on the mission and each should have their own low level GF at this point in the game (and Selfie possibly).

If they do belong to Seifer and Zell; Quistis as an instructor should have 1 already as she’s already been a Seed (possibly 2 if the concept of receiving a GF upon graduation [the lamp] is traditionally to all top students). Ideally Jumbo Cactaur to fit her Blue Magic theme.

Why possibly Selfie? Selfie as a transfer student, may have a diferente criteria if the rule to have a low level GF is only restricted to Balamb Garden students, thus allowed to go to Dollet without one. Although this could solidify her having Doomtrain at a younger age, and then having to go re acquire it after *reasons

However if the low level GF rule does apply to all Gardens then this would carry over to Selfie and Irvine as well. Irvine admits he never used them prior to joining Squall, but should have had one likely Cerberus as it’s found in his school.

Assumedly it mechanically would have no skills learned as he never junctioned it prior to meeting Squall

All other GFs are basically a free for all to be decided upon drawing/defeating them.

*Using this logic Rinoa is the only character that would start without one, we’re divided on if she should get one as she is not trained to be a Seed. Mechanically this explains why she gets all her Angelo abilities, instead of training to be a mercenary she’s trained to be a animal handler.
