FF7 Expanded Universe

I've beaten and 100� FF7 on multiple occasions and, at long last, I'm going through all related games. I'm doing Crisis Core, then Dirge of Cerberus, then going to watch Advent Children (although I've never thought this looked good), then somehow figure out how to do Before Crisis, and finish with my copy of FF7 remake.

I'm about 15% through Crisis Core, and I am really not impressed so far. The game feels somewhat bland in terms of mechanics and the weebish characters don't do anything to help with immersion.

Does it get better? Am I missing something?
