I’ve always wanted to get into FF and recently started at the top. I played 1-6 and now I’m on 7. I’ve heard this is many people’s favorite, so I was looking forward to it. I’m about 8 hours in, just got to the airship where I’m dressing up as a solider, and so far I find it pretty meh. There’s been very little fighting so far, and mostly feels like run to a location and watch a 10 minute cut scene over and over. In fact, there were certain parts where I’m sure I didn’t actually play for like 30 minutes as I just watched backstory.
I tried to tell myself this was just the beginning and I’m sure it’ll get going soon, but after 8 hours I’m starting to think this is just how the game is. Is that accurate?
I wanted to love this series like Zelda, but it’s just not hitting me. I felt 1-6 were good but not great (aside from 2. That was just painful). I see a huge change in direction with 7, which the series needed, but it’s been quite slow. Does it get better?
