Black Magic in Strangers of Paradise

Question about black magic. I know different spells obviously cater to different weaknesses, but I was wondering whether there are any other differences that might make one spell worth using more than another. Like for example, Quake spells seem to launch opponents into the air. Does every spell have some kind of unique effect like that?
I’m mostly asking because I just wanna spam lightning cuz it’s cool, and I’m wondering whether it has its own effect.
