So, my film got it's first bad review from a legit publication (or at least mixed, it still said the film was pleasant), and this being my first film it's a new experience. I assume I'm supposed to just shut up, but there are so many things in the review that are factually incorrect, or just stupid. For example the critic makes the point several times that the film is too personal, but then complains than I don't reveal enough about myself. He said that only one woman expressed negative feelings about redheads, when there are interviews with over a dozen girls who do. I could go on.
I can handle the idea that not everyone is going to love my film, taste is what it is, but it's driving me nuts to see a guy who I assume has never made a film himself, get paid to rip up my film and misrepresent what is in it. If he gets to publicly criticize my work, why can't I criticize his? I really want to make a youtube video where I read the review and pick it apart piece by piece. But I'm afraid that'll backfire on me.
Thoughts?
