Besides LA Casting and Backstage, where do you like to/should I apply for acting gigs?
Post Body

Hello, my name is Bryan, 30yo cis man who has been compared to Zach galifianakis, Andy kaufman, and Danny devito. I started acting about two and a half years ago; music is my passion but I seem to actually make money at acting since I just have to show up and be myself. I love improvising and adlibbing and bringing energy and absurdity and surrealism, and am absolutely atrocious at memorizing lines and auditioning and slating and whatnot so basically my perfect type of gig is like music video roles, prank videos if they pay decently and everyone's in on it or it's harmless, comedic commercial spots, background work, etc. I also keep getting cast as serial killers on those true Crime reenactments too, but I'm running out of facial hair combinations lol.

Oh and while I did finally make it into Central Casting recently, I've only gotten one availability check and no gigs. I suspect they probably have a glut of cis white men lol.

I've paid for various other sites besides LA Casting and backstage, but those are the only ones I've consistently gotten gigs on but that might be because a lot of acting is just doing as many applications as possible. But I want to ask where else I should be applying: all casting, casting frontier, one of those programs you pay like 60 to $100 a month for and they send you a bunch of gigs directly, finding a better agent who doesn't rip and scam off newbies (lol fuck you Rhett; your overpriced headshots were mid-tier). It's usually a shit show but I occasionally find stuff on Craigslist as well. I just want to make sure I'm not missing like really good Instagram pages or if any of those apps like Star now actually are worth it, basically anywhere where there's lots of those sort of background or second fiddle gigs because I have neither the skills nor the body type nor the desire to do leading man stuff but I've had lots of people tell me I'm funny and to try to do more commercials which I've done some but obviously since I'm posting here I'd love to do more.

And on the off chance you're looking for an actor like me, I'll end this post with my usual copy and paste cover letter:

Hello, my name is Bryan, and I would like to apply for this opportunity. I am confident and outgoing, have a flexible schedule, am easy to work with, am fully vaccinated (including booster), and have a reliable car. My email is [email protected], my phone number is (714) 496-3119, and my Instagram handle is @mightybigifs .
