Is it possible for SAG-AFTRA to create their own studios?
Post Body

I’m not in the film industry, nor do I know a whole lot about it. I have been following and supporting the on going strike.

My question, and probably a stupid one, is why don’t the leaders of these huge and talented groups just start doing things on their own. I understand that the studios likely have capital, contracts and networks that would make going independent difficult. I also feel like SAG-AFTRA land the other talent effected by the strike likely have enough resources and talent to undermine the studios anyways.

I doubt an independent effort would be as successful initially but as things are now no one is working or profiting. If the big studios won’t deal, fuck them.
