Post Body

I remember hearing this phrase on a Max Dood react to some video article about the Fighting games in general.

Well, yes, we make character action and cool things happen. But i just understood the greatness of this now.

Jumpin between MK1 and TK8, i was never a combo guy. In NRS games in general, i learn a bnb combo and go have fun, same with TK, a basic combo just to not get squashed, and lets go.

But the "cool things happen" part isnt about combos.

When i was a kid, the cool things for me was to got a Shoryu motion right. Or discover a new Super from SF Alpha 2 on SNES. Without internet or much friends that played the game, i was hyped by discovering more and more Supers and Special moves, that was the cool thing for me back the day.

As an adult who cant get a nice combo on SF6 besides Modern Mode, the cool things became the fundamentals. The neutral game, the mind game.

In MK1, with my 2 basic combos, the cool thing is to explode that Jubilee-esq powers from Li Mei.

I guess as an adult, now i can appreciate the little things and nice touches every game has, with the thrill of discover, character action, and a little bit of my own touch on every character i choose.

I get it now. Indeed, fighting games are about making cool things happen. Wholesome!
