Career mode Players to buy (not wonderkids)

Everywhere I look to try and find suggestions of good players to buy always seems to just be for 16 year olds with a potential of 87. While this is useful it's not exactly fun. Does anyone have realistic suggestions for players to buy that perform well for them. It could be a rotation midfielder like John Mcginn or a back up striker like gingac.
Just a bit fed up with the usual wonderkids, for reference I am Newcastle second season with Europa League football. Please feel free to suggest!
