Penalty help?

Hey guys. I'm currently in year 3 of my player career striker and I still have yet to score a penalty. I read some tips that said to hit the shot button when you see him about to kick and even when I do that and have the cursor in the upper corner the keeper still manages to save it. Any extra tips? Just kind of frustrating my striker who scores worldies for fun can't finish a penalty to save his life.
