I shipped my last package at the UPS store. They asked for my ID and put my name, address, and I think even my phone number on the box which had used socks. They also asked me what was in the box. Is there anything I can do to keep that information private when shipping? I'm thinking about asking a willing friend to ship it for me and paying them back.
i always use USPS but the one near my house has the self serve kiosk so it makes things a lot easier! the post office likes to act like there’s tons of rules for shipping things when really there isn’t - you don’t even have to put the correct city on the address, as long as the street address and zip code are right it’ll be delivered. you don’t legally have to put a name on a package (for the sender or receiver) either even though i’ve had employees give me push back on that too saying they can’t send it without a name. the package will be delivered just fine without a name. if a buyer doesn’t include a name when giving me their address i don’t ask for it. i’ll just make one up or put random initials. for the return address i always just put G.P. instead of my seller name & i use a fake address - it is a REAL address, just not my address. i’ll just use like a mcdonald’s near me or something, sometimes even the post offices address
