I thought it would be both eye-opening and (let’s be honest) somewhat entertaining to share the most absurd sexist comments we’ve encountered. 😅
Whether it’s a bizarre assumption about what you can or can’t do because of your gender, an outdated “joke,” or just a plain old facepalm moment—let’s hear them!
Sharing these stories not only gives us a chance to vent but also highlights how much work still needs to be done to challenge these stereotypes.
I’ll start: Someone once told me that women shouldn’t lift heavy weights because “muscles aren’t feminine.” 🙄
Looking forward to your stories!
Fishing trip that we had to drive a couple of hours to the location. Uncle could not stop ranting about how most women drive under the speed limit. A 45 minute rant about it.
I got out of the car and just stage whispered to my mum "Clearly he hasn't met [ex girlfriend/my BFF] because both of them have a kead foot."
He shut up about it later.
Second one was a coworker who just wanted the women to clean up and tidy after him and he said "Women are innately more organized and clean than men."
I nearly hurt myself laughing. Because clearly he has not dealt with college/University girls ever. My dorrn looked and smelled like a frat house and it was all women.
